Who are we?

Strategy-and-Technology.com is the web site the Walter Wallach Consulting.  We provide consulting and contract services for information technology and engineering management. Using our own resources, or by partnering with other trusted consultants, we can take on a variety of technology projects across a number of industries. We provide consulting services, and are developing software products for the Windows Mobile platform. Check back with us to see when these products become available.

We provide consulting in three broad areas: 

Design and Development

Embedded software development for medical devices, including software for analyzing and displaying patient test results, and processes and procedures and test fixtures for operationally managing the devices as part of a testing service. 

Building and configuring clusters of commodity servers, installation and provisioning, shared storage. 

Architectural design and prototype of a web infrastructure for a medical testing service, then managed the implementation of a production version. 

System management software work has included collection, analysis and display of performance metrics across a cluster or data center. 

Other work included Ethernet device drivers, teaming drivers, driver and hardware design for hot swapping devices; virtualization of storage shares in a clustered environment; and virtualized process management across a cluster.


 

Engineering Management

By focusing on basic engineering principals, I have delivered results from stalled projects. I have staffed and energized groups and put in place agile development processes. I have worked with so-called Waterfall processes, but have had the most success using iterative and agile processes (where success is defined as the timely delivery of a working and reliable product that meets customer expectations).


 

Technology and Product Strategy

With a broad and deep experience in technology, and a track record of innovative product designs, I can help develop and refine product concepts based on underlying technologies.  

Having worked in seven startups, I can help build your engineering organization, articulate the vision and secure funding.  

With experience protecting intellectual property and writing and reviewing patents I can put in place processes to assure that information needed to protect intellectual property is archived and available for writing and filing patent applications.  I am a co-inventor on 48 U.S. Patents.
